Black is the New Black

News flash from Acting Tour Director "The Other":  After much struggling with transparent PNG graphics (don't ask...) he's managed to finally make available on Tour De Fleece's shop at Café Press a Black T-shirt with the Tour de Fleece 2006 line drawing in yellow, in addition to the white/light coloured items with a black line drawing which were already available.

A caveat, however:  Café Press lists the Black T-shirts as "BETA" products; they may take longer to produce and ship than other items.

The Black T-shirt is also listed separately in its own shop (part of The Other's learning curve in setting things up... sigh)

As noted previously, proceeds from sales will be donated to Dyana Afghan Women's Fund (http://www.dawf.ca).

The Other

Le Tour de Fleece 2006

Progress reports for the two Tours, posted by acting Tour Director "The Other":

It's Wednesday July 5th and the Tour de France has completed Stage 4 from Huy to Saint-Quentin, with Australian rider Robbie McEwen taking the stage and the Green Jersey (Maillot Vert) for the points leader.  Tom Boonen from Belgium finishes 5th but hangs on to the coveted Yellow Jersey (Maillot Jaune) with the lowest cumulative time.

Updates on the progress of the Tour de Fleece's participants can be found on their individual blogs, or web pages, by clicking on their links in the Particpants List in the sidebar.

Herself (Katherine) is on the mend and will take the reins again shortly, and plans to post some progress highlights from a selection of participants' blogs, to help encourage everyone.

And for today's final news: a shop has been opened on Café Press to sell a few items with the Tour de Fleece logo.  Proceeds from sales will be donated to the Dyana Afghan Women's Fund, a charitable organization founded by Afghan-Canadian author and journalist Nelofer Pazira to support the women's centre in Kandahar.

The Prize(s)

As noted previously, everyone who finishes the Tour will get a Tour de Fleece 2006 Finisher's button to post on their blog -- it will be e-mailed to finishers once the Tour is over.

In addition to the particpant's button, there will be the following prizes, to be awarded by random drawing at the end of the Tour.

Registration for Le Tour de Fleece 2006 is now closed, and all participants should now be listed in the sidebar.

The list will be double-checked over the next couple of days against all of the emails received and comments posted by spinners asking to join -- if your entry was received by the deadline but somehow got overlooked, rest assured it will be added to the sidebar.

If you sent your entry by email, it's possible that I didn't receive it due to email glitches -- please let me know by forwarding the original message again from your email program's "sent items" folder.
