2006.07.17 Tour de Fleece sales on Café Press raise US$20 for Dyana Afghan Women's Fund
Le Tour de Fleece's shop on Café Press has, to date, raised US$20 from sales of Tour de Fleece 2006 logo items. The proceeds will be donated to the charitable organization Dyana Afghan Women's Fund (please see http://www.dawf.ca for more information about DAWF)
2006.07.06 Daily postings will allow participants to comment on their progress
A series of daily postings will be, er, posted by Katherine to allow participants to add comments tracking their progress towards their personal Tour de Fleece goal. Comments for each day's posting will be closed when the next day's posting goes up. If you already have a blog or a photo site where you're documenting your progress, you can put the URL in the comments; if you don't have a blog or pictures, just tell us about your progress.
2006.07.05 Café Press shop featuring Tour de Fleece items opened to raise funds for Dyana Afghan Women's Fund
The Dyana Afghan Women's Fund (www.dawf.ca) is a charitable organization started by Afghan-Canadian writer and journalist Nelofer Pazira to raise funds for a women's centre in Kandahar. To raise money for this worthy cause, Le Tour de Fleece has opened a Café Press shop to sell items with the Tour de Fleece 2006 logo. Please visit the shop at www.cafepress.com/tdf_2006 -- proceeds from purchases will be donated to the Dyana Afghan Women's fund on behalf of Le Tour de Fleece 2006.
2006.07.03 More Prizes Added to the List
More prizes have been added to the list -- Katherine thanks everyone who has so generously donated a prize.
The list of prizes to be awarded by random draw to finishers of Le Tour de Fleece has been updated. More items will be added shortly, after confirming some details.
2006.06.25 Deadline for entries set
The deadline for entries has been set as midnight (where ever you are) on Thursday June 29th, 2006.
2006.06.19 Official Tour de Fleece Button available for download
The Official Tour de Fleece 2006 participant button in now available for downloading in the sidebar, under the heading "Participants".
Please download the button (PC users, right-click on the button and choose "Save Picture/Image as..."; Mac users, well, you'll know what to do...) and then upload the file to your blog or website (i.e. please don't link directly to the button on this site).
2006.06.18 Participants List Updated
The Participants List in the sidebar has been updated to, hopefully, include everyone who's submitted their name (either in the comments of The Participants, or in the comments of the original post in wabisabi, or via e-mail).
If you've already submitted an entry but aren't shown in the sidebar list, please let me know and you'll be added.

Hi,
I'm sorry I didn't check in sooner, but did you receive my email to sign up?
Thanks,

My spinning goal: I have 8 ounces of Targhee in extraordinary colors ('Fruit Salad" I believe it's called) and I want to spin a 2-ply dk weight yarn...looking for enough for a medium-sized child's sweater. Picture of the roving is on my blog dated 6/29.

I guess I'll post my info here.
I'm a new spinner, I've only actually completed 3 real skeins (two bulky, one worsted). So my goal is going to be to spin up 2lbs of fiber - the bulk of my beginner's stash - I'll put more details on my blog and a photo of all of the fiber.
You can track my progress at my blog:

Thanks so much and may everyone cross the finish line!

My goal:
I too am a new spinner and have some multicolored fleece that I would like to spin up and then learn how to chain ply (or Navaho ply) it. This is such a great idea! Off to spin....

Apple Leef Farm (appleleeffarm.com) has some great pdfs of yarn tags that would be perfect for labeling your results.
This is a skein band that you can print and cut:
http://appleleeffarm.com/WEBPDF/yarnband.pdf
There are also skein tags and tags for your yarn from a drop spindle.
